“Fear is inevitable,
but I would unreservedly jump into the river!”
At around 0:15 AM on August 27th, two overwrought women were arguing by the river in the west area of Yongruixuan in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, with their voices growing louder and louder.
Xu Chenlong was patrolling near the river at that time and was alert to the abnormal situation of the two women. In less than 1 minute, he heard a “splash” as one of the women jumped into the river, while the other screamed for help. Xu Chenlong immediately sprinted towards the scene and called the police at the same time.
The Scene
Xu Chenlong only knows a little about swimming and has no idea about the depth of the river. However, at this critical moment, he had only one thought in his mind: saving life first. Regardless of his own safety, he didn’t hesitate and quickly jumped into the river even without taking off his clothes. In the water, he tightly grasped the woman who intended to take her own life and struggled to drag the woman to the bank. The woman on the river bank reached out to help Xu Chenlong pull the would-be suicide victim to the bank. After reaching dry land, Xu Chenlong checked the condition and pacified the woman until the police and the ambulance arrived in several minutes and took the two women away.
Xu Chenlong is the pride of Binjiang Property. As a young order team member, his behavior is praiseworthy, living up to the expectations and demonstrating his strong sense of responsibility.
